In the night leading into Sunday, a robbery took place in Munich city centre. An unknown assailant attacked two men outside a bar on Sonnenstraße and subsequently made off with their valuables.
The incident occurred shortly after half past two in the morning outside the Closer Bar. A 37-year-old and a 27-year-old were speaking with a stranger there. Without warning, the man delivered hard blows to the heads of both men. Both collapsed and temporarily lost consciousness.
Helpers from the surrounding area rushed over and attended to the victims lying on the ground. The attacker took advantage of the chaos to escape unrecognised. Paramedics took the injured men to a nearby hospital.
During medical treatment, the older of the two victims noticed that his wallet and wireless headphones were missing. Officers immediately launched a search operation, which has so far been unsuccessful.
Investigators are appealing to possible witnesses who saw something in the vicinity of the club to contact Munich police.
