Suspect arrested after double murder in Bremen
Police officers have arrested a 22-year-old in a maize field near Schwanewede in Lower Saxony. The young man is considered the principal suspect in the death of a married couple in Bremen.
The arrest was carried out by specialist units. The wanted man had gone into hiding in a field in Osterholz district. Officers tracked him down and took him into preliminary custody.
Prior to his arrest, the suspect had disappeared from view. Investigators had been searching intensively for him. The background to the violent act in the Hanseatic city remains unclear and is still being investigated.
