A man convicted of murdering his wife has escaped from a Lower Saxonian prison during supervised leave. Benjamin Fricke, 42 years old, was last seen on early Monday afternoon and has been missing since.

The prisoner had been granted permission to visit his mother. He managed to escape during this supervised outing. He fled on a motorcycle and evaded his guards before disappearing. Intensive police search operations have been underway since then.
