Gun seller arrested in Berlin-Neukölln for sixfold murder in Stade
Two months after the sixfold murder in Stade, police arrested a 49-year-old Berliner who is alleged to have sold the murder weapon to the perpetrator.

Two months after the sixfold murder at a youth welfare facility in Stade, police have apprehended another suspect. According to BILD, a 49-year-old man was arrested on Monday in the Berlin district of Neukölln – he is alleged to have sold the murder weapon to the suspected shooter. The Stade prosecutor's office confirmed the arrest on Tuesday.
According to the officers' own account, special forces and officers from the murder commission arrested the man "without resistance". He was then subjected to identification procedures and questioned for the first time. For security reasons, the authority did not wish to disclose which lower Saxony correctional facility the suspect was transferred to. According to initial findings, the Turkish-origin 49-year-old is alleged to have sold the weapon to suspected perpetrator Fatih G. (45) "apparently" a few days before the act.
On 29 June 2026, Fatih G. visited the mother-and-child home on Dankersstraße in Stade. The appointment was intended to address the future of his three-month-old daughter, who was accommodated in the facility together with her 34-year-old mother. During the assistance planning meeting, he is alleged to have opened fire. Six employees – four men and two women – of the private organisation and the youth welfare office lost their lives. Investigators assume that a custody dispute was the trigger for the bloodshed.
After the act, Fatih G. fled the scene in a Mercedes-AMG GLE 43 Coupé, together with 65-year-old Sylvia S., who was driving the vehicle. Shortly afterwards, police stopped the flight and took him into custody on suspicion of murder. On 21 July, Fatih G. committed suicide in his cell. The investigation against him was subsequently discontinued, though clarification of the circumstances continues, as the prosecutor's office emphasised on Tuesday.
According to a media report, investigations are also being conducted against the child's mother and against Sylvia S. S. is a migration activist and mother-in-law of Lower Saxony's migration commissioner Deniz Kurku (43, SPD). As godmother of Fatih G.'s daughter, she had steered the getaway vehicle and was apprehended together with the suspected shooter.
