On 7 June, a violent conflict broke out in the Kiviniitty district of Kokkola in the middle of the day, which authorities are investigating as an attempted murder. Three people are suspected of actions involving violence and intimidation at the scene. Keskipohjanmaa reported the statement from the Ostrobothnia Police Department.
The disturbance began in a public square, where the parties began threatening each other verbally. The situation escalated into a dispute and quickly turned into a physical confrontation. According to authorities, a cutting or stabbing weapon may have been used in the altercation.
After the conflict, those involved left the scene. Authorities traced the suspects and took them into custody on the same day, several hours after the incident occurred.
The investigation is still ongoing. The charges are likely to include attempted murder, assault and battery, and unlawful intimidation.
