Attempted murder inquiry in Kerava: neighbour called emergency services over domestic violence incident
In Kerava's Päivölänrinne district, a neighbour alerted police early on Tuesday morning to violence between a couple. Police are investigating the incident as an attempted murder.
Woman arrested over violence in Kerava apartment building
According to Yle.fi, a neighbour called the emergency number 112 early on Tuesday morning after noticing a serious situation in an apartment building located in Kerava's Päivölänrinne district. Police received the alert through the emergency centre at approximately 06.20.
– This was an incident involving violence between a couple living in the building, explains investigation director, crime chief superintendent Anssi Murto. According to Murto, the couple are under 30 years of age.
Police apprehended the woman at the scene. The man was transported to hospital for treatment of his injuries.
– Fortunately, the injuries sustained by the other party were not life-threatening. It is a single stab wound, Murto states.
Police confiscated a bladed weapon, among other items, from the scene of the incident. The victim has already been questioned, but the arrested woman has not yet been.
The motive for the violent incident remains unclear at this time. Police are investigating the possible involvement of intoxicating substances in the events. The woman is suspected of attempted murder and the man of assault — the charges may be refined as the investigation progresses.
Multiple police patrols and emergency care units were present at the scene. Police are continuing with questioning and technical investigation.
