According to Google News FR — Crime (fr), the custody of a municipal police officer from Margny-lès-Compiègne (Oise) was extended on Sunday 23 August, following a fatal road accident that occurred during the night from Friday to Saturday in Bienville, following a refusal to stop.

The Compiègne public prosecutor announced the opening of an investigation for death by motor vehicle, entrusted to Compiègne police station. The accident involved a vehicle occupied by two people: the driver died, while the passenger was slightly injured.

This passenger had also been taken into custody, but this was lifted on Sunday without any charges being brought against them.

According to the public prosecutor — confirming information from Courrier Picard — the damaged vehicle had first been subjected to an attempted stop by the municipal police of Margny-lès-Compiègne, before evading it.

Two municipal police officers had been taken into custody from Saturday onwards. They were questioned in order to establish the exact circumstances of the attempted stop and the sequence of events that led to the fatal accident.
