Murder of Thomas Perotto in Crépol: judges add anti-white racism to charges

On 17 July, the fourteen suspects examined in the case of Thomas Perotto's murder in Crépol were re-examined by magistrates of the Valence court, according to Le Figaro. Following these hearings, the judges added the aggravating circumstance of racism to the charges of "murder" and "attempted murder" already held against them. This judicial reversal, described as unprecedented, could make the forthcoming trial an unprecedented judicial event in France on the question of anti-white racism.

Five days before his hearing, Yanis B., 21 years old, had been informed that the justice system was considering this additional examination. In the magistrate's office, he stated: "When I hear 'French', I feel concerned. When I hear 'bougnoule', 'Arab', I feel concerned. I have nothing to do with all that, with racist remarks. I am as French as everyone else."

The facts date back to 19 November 2023. At the exit from the Crépol ball, an explosion of violence had opposed local rugby players and young people from the Monnaie district of Romans. Thomas Perotto, 16 years old, had been fatally stabbed during this brawl. Yanis B. admits having heard insults during the confrontations, whilst contesting his responsibility for the most serious acts.

The addition of the aggravating circumstance of racism is likely to profoundly modify the contours of the forthcoming trial. According to Le Figaro, this is the first time that such a qualification has been envisaged in a case of this type in France. The defence lawyers for the accused have not yet publicly reacted to this reversal.
