Eddie Goujit, 19: fake elected official, fake camping director, back in prison
Eddie Goujit, 19, already under investigation for fraud in the Var, was remanded in custody on 20 August following fresh scams in Ardèche, including forged employment contracts.
Eddie Goujit, 19: alleged serial fraudster back in detention following fresh scams
A 19-year-old man, Eddie Goujit, was remanded in custody on 20 August after being arrested in Ardèche for fresh counts of fraud, according to BFM TV. Already under investigation since 2025 for "identity fraud", "forgery and use of forged documents" and "fraud" in the Var, he is this time suspected of having forged employment contracts signed by at least two people.
Fictitious recruitment in Ardèche
It was during a summer in Ardèche that Logann, a seasonal worker, meets a camping entertainer who introduces himself under the name Alexandre de Bernard, known as "Alex". The two men hit it off quickly. "We got on well, we got along," Logann told BFM TV. A few days after their first meeting, Alex offers him a position as an activities supervisor for the season: he is about to take over, he says, the management of a camping site belonging to his grandfather in Hyères, in the Var. "Within a week, he had me sign a contract."
Logann nonetheless begins to have doubts. "I was thinking it was strange that he would take over, at such a young age, a camping site. When you think about it, it was too much. But the bigger the lie, the more it works." Cautious, he contacts the camping site in question in the Var. The manager — for it is indeed a woman who runs it — confirms to him that she knows no Alexandre de Bernard and that she never intended to hand over her establishment.
On 18 August, Logann learns of the arrest of "Alex" following a complaint filed against him. He then discovers his true identity: Eddie Goujit, 19, already at the centre of multiple legal proceedings.
An already heavy criminal record at 19
In the past, Eddie Goujit had been under investigation for "forgery and use of forged documents", "identity fraud", "attempted fraud", "fraud" and "theft". Placed for a time in custody pending trial, he had been released under judicial supervision pending a possible trial. The fresh complaints filed against him led to his return to custody on 20 August.
Bruno Solari, organiser of the Miss and Mister Elegance competition, who had met him two years earlier, makes no secret of his bitterness. "You're telling me he reoffended at a camping site, and he's back in prison?" he says before bursting into bitter laughter. "I knew it, I knew it. I even gave this gentleman a name: the new Rocancourt. I had told the courts that as long as he was not locked up, he wouldn't stop."
Fake elected official, fake subsidy: the Cannes scam
In April 2024, at an edition of Cannes Séries on the Croisette, Eddie Goujit approaches Bruno Solari and his team. He presents himself as an elected representative from the PACA region, with a tricolour sash across his shoulder. He mentions a beauty pageant project financed by the region and promises to contact him again.
Six months later, he calls Bruno Solari back and offers him a contract to become one of his advisers as part of a candidacy for municipal elections in Toulon. He sends him a job offer by email, with the Region's logo at the top.
In February 2025, at the final of Bruno Solari's pageant, Eddie Goujit makes a remarkable entrance. In front of other elected officials present in the room, he presents the organiser with an enormous cardboard cheque for 175,000 euros in the name of the Region, accompanied by a medal from the Order of Merit. "When you have before you elected representatives of the Republic who allow this to unfold without intervening, you find yourself crying and thinking: but it is real, isn't it," comments Bruno Solari.
A few days later, he learns that the cheque is forged, the medal as well, and that the contract promised in the name of the PACA Region is worthless. "When he spoke, when he introduced himself, he had the vocabulary, the bearing. You could see that he knew what he was talking about," the victim recalls.
Expelled from the Regional Youth Parliament at 17
Eddie Goujit had for a time moved in regional circles as a member of the Regional Youth Parliament. He was expelled in March 2024 after posing as the vice-president of the Region or as a member of the National Education ministry. The Region had then filed a complaint for "abuse of office", "forgery and use of forged documents" and "fraud" against him — he was only 17 at the time.
In Saint-Raphaël, a hotel keeper claims to have been defrauded by the young man, who allegedly settled a stay of 1,600 euros with cheques with insufficient funds before fleeing.
Camping entertainer, between lies and petty schemes
In August 2025, Eddie Goujit had been hired as an entertainer at a camping site in Bourg-Saint-Andéol, in Ardèche. The manager of the establishment, interviewed by France Inter, recounted that he notably charged children five euros to access the play area. "It's stronger than him, the lying: claiming he studies at Sciences Po, that his mother is a prosecutor... He buys drinks, food, he says the establishment is paying," she declared, exasperated.
It was at this same camping site that he apparently approached Logann to offer him the fake position in the Var. The same mechanism, the same charm, the same result: a fresh complaint and a return behind bars for the man whom Bruno Solari now calls "the new Rocancourt".
