Macron: "Turning point" following Trappes attack
A man opened fire from his car against passers-by in the Trappes suburb of Paris, killing one person and injuring five others, among them a 12-year-old girl, according to in.gr.
French President Emmanuel Macron described the attack as "terrorist and racist", saying that the victims were targeted exclusively because of their religion or the colour of their skin.
"For the first time a terrorist attack is being planned to kill our fellow citizens, our children, because of the colour of their skin or their religion," Macron said, calling the incident a "turning point" in the country's history.
The French president called on citizens to demonstrate "harmony" and "unity" in the face of violence, with the slogan "neither fear, nor anger".
