According to fr.news.yahoo.com, a 7-year-old boy is suspected of having killed his aunt with a knife blow during the night of Thursday 17 to Friday 18 September, in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, in Val-de-Marne. The child allegedly confessed to his actions.

The victim, identified by Le Parisien as Nadia S., was 49 years old. Police officers discovered her in the street around 4:30 a.m., her neck bleeding. A witness claims to have heard her calling "help me" repeatedly. Despite the intervention of emergency services, she died around 5:15 a.m. Her sister and her 7-year-old nephew were present at the scene at the time of the incident.

According to police sources, an argument broke out between the victim and her sister, the child's mother, on the first floor of a building on the street. In order to defend his mother, the boy allegedly seized a knife found in the bathroom of the flat and stabbed his aunt in the throat.

The Créteil prosecutor's office confirmed the opening of an investigation into murder, entrusted to the judicial police. According to Le Parisien, investigators initially considered the possibility of a murder staged by an adult, placing the child's mother in custody. This hypothesis was ultimately ruled out in favour of holding the minor responsible.

In France, the criminal liability of children under 13 years of age is governed by the 1945 ordinance and the Code of Criminal Justice for Minors: a 7-year-old child cannot face standard criminal prosecution. The case raises questions about family support and the circumstances in which the tragedy occurred, in the middle of the night, in a context of apparently violent family conflict.
