"Ubershit" Network Dismantled in Besançon: Four Men Charged, €600,000 in Drugs Seized
Four men aged 29 to 40 were charged in Besançon on 19 September for running a drug delivery network known as "Ubershit". More than €600,000 in drugs were seized.
Drug Delivery Network "Van Weed": Four Charged in Besançon Following Operation Involving 50 Police Officers
According to france3-regions.franceinfo.fr, the prosecutor of the Republic in Besançon, Cédric Logelin, announced on 22 September 2026 at a press conference the charging of four men suspected of running a drug delivery network of the "Ubershit" type in the Besançon urban area.
The four suspects, aged 29 to 40, were arrested on Wednesday 16 September during a large-scale operation. Fifty police officers were mobilised — agents from Besançon as well as reinforcements from Côte-d'Or, specified the inter-departmental director of the national police, Laurent Perraut.
More than €600,000 in Drugs Seized
The prosecution detailed the seizures: 12 kg of ketamine, 29 kg of cannabis resin, nearly 7 kg of cannabis herb, 24,000 ecstasy tablets and approximately 550 g of cocaine. In total, the value of the confiscated drugs exceeded €600,000. Added to this were more than €8,800 in cash, luxury clothing estimated at more than €26,000, two vehicles and a motorcycle.
An Encrypted Operating Method in Full Expansion
"We used to have dealing points, now we increasingly have delivery, with traffickers and customers who think they are safe because they use encrypted networks," declared Cédric Logelin. The network, known as "Van Weed", operated via encrypted messaging services, notably Telegram, to receive orders and organise deliveries.
The investigation began in August 2025 under the status of a preliminary inquiry. It subsequently became the subject of judicial investigation in order to "entrust the file to an investigating judge to benefit from extended powers", the prosecutor specified. The four defendants are being prosecuted for possession, transport and acquisition of drugs, but also for "offering or transfer of drugs using a means of cryptography".
This latter offence constitutes a crime punishable by 15 years' imprisonment. "The sentences that can be imposed are extremely severe, adapted to the harm caused by this type of network," Logelin emphasised.
A Network Already Dismantled, Reconstituted Since
Several of the four accused were already known to police and had been convicted of similar offences following a first dismantling of this same network, "which had been reconstituted", the prosecution indicated. Following their charging on 19 September, the four men were remanded in custody.
At this stage of the investigation, three of the suspects remained silent and the fourth contested the charges, according to Cédric Logelin.
Lengthy Surveillance to Identify the Organisers
Laurent Perraut praised "a remarkable, long-drawn-out operation and significant commitment from the investigators". He emphasised the decisive role of numerous surveillance operations conducted to identify the organisers of the network and locate the drug storage locations. "It is their work day and night that made it possible to gather the evidence for these charges," he stated.
The prosecutor concluded with a direct warning to traffickers and consumers using these online ordering systems: "It is not because one uses a delivery network and thinks one is safe, because one operates by message, that one cannot be arrested."
