Drug seizure in Gap during police operation
On Tuesday 9 June 2026, in the late afternoon, police officers conducted an operation against the illegal drugs trade in the Villarobert sector, located in the upper part of Gap. This area of the Hautes-Alpes had been identified as a dealing point.
The officers were supported by a sniffer dog belonging to the local customs service and by colleagues from the municipal police. Their searches resulted in the discovery of products concealed in the vegetation: cannabis grass and resin, as well as white powder. The street value of these substances was estimated at one thousand six hundred euros.
Among the items also recovered were a kitchen knife, plastic packaging and a two-way radio. A teenager was apprehended in possession of narcotic substances.
According to the authorities, this operation was aimed at responding to the directives of the State representative in the department concerning public order and the repression of the drug trade, on the order of the magistrate of the Gap public prosecutor's office.
During the following night, a police response team patrolling in the same area came under mortar fire targeting their official vehicle. Fortunately, the incident caused neither damage nor injuries. The investigation continues under the supervision of the public prosecutor of Gap.
