Google News FR — Crime (fr) reports that antisemitic and anti-police tags were discovered on Saturday on a municipal building in Fécamp (Seine-Maritime). A swastika painted in black, accompanied by a heart, was among the inscriptions. A few metres away, the phrase "Fuck the 17" had been spray-painted in pastel blue paint.
The City of Fécamp responded in the afternoon on its social media: "These acts have no place in Fécamp nor anywhere else." The mayor decided to file a complaint, having previously commended the rapid intervention of municipal services responsible for cleaning. "Hatred, racism, antisemitism and intimidation have no place in our city, nor in our Republic," the municipality specified in its statement. An investigation has been opened and entrusted to the local police station.
This is not the first incident of this kind in the department during the same week. In the night of 19 to 20 August, the Paul Bert elementary school was also targeted by vandalism of a "racist, antisemitic and sexist" nature, according to state services. Paint splashing and damage to equipment were also observed by police at this establishment, which welcomes 368 pupils. The prefecture responded at that time: "These acts, which target a school during final preparations for the school year, are unacceptable and infringe upon the fundamental values of the Republic." A complaint was immediately filed in that case too.
