From 6 o'clock in the morning on Monday 1 June, around one hundred gendarmes from the Hérault groupement were deployed to Lodève and several surrounding communes as part of a judicial operation, reports midilibre.fr.
The massive mobilisation of the military units did not go unnoticed: local residents struck by the scene sent photographs to the Midi Libre editorial office.
Eight people suspected of being involved in a drug trafficking network were detained and placed in police custody. Investigations and questioning continued throughout the day.
