A man was taken into police custody on Friday in Saint-Prix, in Val-d'Oise, on suspicion of having killed his wife, according to France Info.

The victim, aged 68, was found dead by strangulation in the municipality. Her husband was arrested a few hours after the body was discovered. Before investigators, he admitted to the facts, declaring he had killed his wife "following a trivial altercation", according to the Pontoise public prosecutor's office.

An investigation for murder committed by a spouse has been opened. The suspect was presented to a judge on Sunday, with a view to his being charged and his placement in provisional detention.
