A 13-year-old boy was attacked by a group of four people outside the 3rd Primary School of Nea Smyrni on Monday, according to the newspaper Ta Nea. The minor was wounded in the right thigh and was taken to Agia Sophia Children's Hospital, where he is being treated in the Orthopaedic Clinic.
His health condition is described as stable and is not in danger, although the wound to the thigh is described as extensive.
The president of POEDEN, Michalis Giannakos, speaking to television station Mega, stated: "This is a tragic and shocking event that demonstrates the scale of the problem." Police were notified immediately of the incident.
Giannakos also noted that over the past year, approximately 1,000 incidents of minors being injured in brawls have been recorded, highlighting the severity of the phenomenon of violence among young people.
