A 77-year-old was arrested in Piraeus following a report that he chased and threatened two men with a fishing speargun, following a dispute over a parking space.

A potentially violent incident was averted on Wednesday afternoon in central Piraeus when a 77-year-old pensioner attempted to injure two men using a fishing trident, according to allegations made by the victims.
The confrontation began at around 14:00 at the intersection of Vizaníou and Kapodístríou streets. The elderly man, who lives in a nearby apartment block, had a heated argument with two brothers, aged 44 and 38, over a parking space. The dispute escalated when the 77-year-old went into the building, retrieved a metallic fishing tool measuring one metre and thirty centimetres from inside his flat, and came back out onto the street threatening the two men.
The victims, alarmed by the unexpected attack, began running to escape, whilst residents of the area watching from balconies shouted for the authorities to be notified. The incident was recorded by a security camera, which shows the two men moving swiftly away from the elderly man.
Police officers from the D.I.AS unit arrived at the scene within minutes. The officers immobilised the perpetrator and confiscated the sharp object. He was then taken to the local police station, where a case file was opened against him.
The elderly man faces charges of attempted causing of dangerous bodily harm and violation of provisions governing possession of weapons. He was brought before the competent prosecutor, who decided on the further course of action in the case.
As reported by Newsbeast, the 44-year-old of the two brothers lives in the same apartment block as the accused. Authorities are investigating whether there were previous incidents between those involved.
