Last month, an electronic message that reached the authorities caused alarm. The sender claimed to have placed an explosive device in a DEDDIE building in western Thessaloniki.
Following an investigation by the Department for the Prosecution and Investigation of Crimes of Lefkos Pyrgos, it was established that the warning was completely false. Police officers succeeded in identifying the person who sent the message: a 42-year-old man.
A case file was opened against him for spreading false information. The matter will be referred to the courts.
