As part of an operation by the Drug Prosecution Division, eleven people aged between 14 and 21 were arrested, members of two separate gangs that traded substances to minors. The arrests were made in areas of Attica on Tuesday last week.

According to a report in the Newspaper of Journalists, the first gang began operating in April 2026 in Ekali, Drosia, Dionysus and Nea Erythraia. The 21-year-old who directed the operation had complete control of revenues and the supply of substances. His 19-year-old deputy managed the transport and storage, whilst the 17-year-old oversaw the underage members and distribution.

The first gang's members used a luxury vehicle worth over 150,000 euros for their movements, which was registered in the name of a deceased person to hinder the detection of the actual owner.

Sales took place in children's playgrounds, squares, bus stops and inside schools. The gang members attempted to involve children as young as 13 in their operation. A case was detected of cocaine being sold to a 14-year-old girl.

During the operation, the 21-year-old driver rammed a patrol car and seriously injured a police officer in the foot who was attempting to immobilise him. A case file was opened against him for attempted murder in connection with this incident and he remains at large.

The second gang operated in Thracomacedones with a 19-year-old as leader and two underage associates, aged 15 and 14. To conceal their substances, they used an abandoned house in the area.

Both gangs took measures to avoid detection. They used encrypted applications, code names and monitored activity around their vehicles to identify possible police presence.

From the searches, cannabis, cocaine, three types of replica weapons, electronic scales, two flares, brass knuckles, flick knives, a cosh, a wooden club and 3,980 euros in cash were seized. Additionally, two guardians of underage offenders were arrested for failure to supervise.

The arrested individuals were brought before the competent prosecutor.
