A 30-year-old man has been arrested in Budapest after collecting and storing human body parts in his home and workplace, then cooking with them – according to Vecernji list.

The man was employed at a Budapest hospital when police took him into custody on 17 June. During the investigation, it emerged that the man was obsessed with anatomy and pathology, and enjoyed dissecting animals. According to the authorities, he had excavated the body parts from abandoned cemeteries in Slovakia and Hungary.

Police searched all of the man's properties and vehicle. Computers, tablets, mobile phones and SIM cards were seized. During the search, several human body parts were found, as well as a heart in a preserving jar, the origin of which is still being investigated.

The man admitted that he was fascinated by human body parts and confessed that he had prepared food from them. The court placed him in pre-trial detention. Investigators must determine precisely where each body part came from. The authorities have not ruled out bringing additional charges against the man.
