Andria, drug dealer arrested with 415 grammes of hashish

A citizen of Andria was arrested by the State Police for possession with intent to supply narcotics. The order from the Preliminary Investigations Judge came after seven months of investigation by the Mobile Squad.

Custodial remand for drug trafficking

According to questure.poliziadistato.it, the Preliminary Investigations Judge of the Trani Court issued a custodial remand order in prison against a citizen of Andria deemed responsible for unlawful transfer and possession of controlled substances. The order upholds the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Trani, which coordinated the investigation conducted by the Mobile Squad of the Barletta-Andria-Trani Police Headquarters.

The restrictive measure was ordered by the Preliminary Investigations Judge following the preventive interrogation of 1 October. The investigation developed over approximately seven months, from December 2025 to July 2026, through technical activities, surveillance and observation operations in the field.

The main incident dates to 1 December 2025 on via Garibaldi in Andria. Officers from the Flying Squad seized 415 grammes gross of hashish that the man had concealed under a parked car, in an attempt to evade inspection and complete the transfer to an unknown buyer. The charge concerns violation of Article 73, paragraph 4, of Presidential Decree No. 309/1990.

The severity of the conduct is aggravated by the defendant's previous criminal record. On 20 April 2026 he had already been arrested in flagrante delicto in possession of 2,037 grammes of hashish. On 5 May 2026, during a search at his residence, officers found him with a further 63.92 grammes gross of hashish, for which he was reported at liberty.

The evidential data outlined a solid framework of circumstantial evidence, shared by the Judicial Authority, testifying to the persistence of supply channels and the continuation of unlawful activity. The criminal proceedings are still in the preliminary investigation phase. With full respect for the constitutional principle of presumption of innocence, responsibility of the defendant will be definitively established only following an irrevocable judgment.
