Lawyer beaten by ex-partner: prosecutor seeks 3 years and 6 months for Iranian businessman
A trial is underway in Milan against Alireza Roodsari, accused of mistreatment and aggravated assault against his ex-partner Solange Marchignoli, a lawyer.
Trial in Milan for violence against lawyer Marchignoli
Milan prosecutor Alessia Menegazzo has sought a sentence of 3 years and 6 months in prison for Alireza Roodsari, a wealthy Iranian businessman, charged with mistreatment and aggravated assault against his ex-partner, lawyer Solange Marchignoli. This is reported by ANSA Cronaca.
Roodsari had been placed under house arrest in September 2025 and transferred to prison at the end of November, following an escalation of the precautionary measure. Marchignoli, known for having defended Azouz Marzouk and Nina Moric in proceedings that received significant media coverage, is a civil party in the trial.
In her closing arguments before the fifth criminal section, presided over by judge Gianluca Tenchio, the prosecutor reconstructed what she described as "an alarming escalation of verbal and physical aggression, harassment, threats and psychological coercion", which began in the summer of 2022, at the beginning of the relationship between the two.
The last alleged incident dates back to the summer of last year in Dubai, where the man allegedly fractured the woman's jaw by biting her. The assaults allegedly often occurred with the man "intoxicated by alcohol and cocaine" and sometimes in the presence of her children.
The prosecutor also highlighted the sequence of complaints filed by Marchignoli, followed by an equal number of withdrawals of charges deposited shortly after, which she considered "evidence of her state of vulnerability and the fact that she had no intention of making false accusations". The last complaint, filed on 8 August, led to the arrest carried out by the carabinieri.
The anti-violence centre at the Mangiagalli clinic had previously established a "very high risk" to the safety of the lawyer.
