The operation, coordinated by the Head of the Viminale Police Commissioner's Office, saw agents from the Railway Police, Motorway Police, personnel from the Guardia di Finanza, Rome Capital Local Police, AMA operators and staff from Rome Capital's Social Operations Centre working together.
Controls: areas and objectives
The controls particularly focused on Piazza dei Cinquecento, via Giolitti, via Marsala, via Gioberti, via Amendola and the area around the Baths of Diocletian. The operation was also prompted by reports from residents regarding conditions of urban decay, rough sleeping and drug dealing activities.
Regarding urban maintenance, AMA operators restored the condition of the public areas. Specialists from the Social Operations Centre attended to homeless persons in the zone.

On via Marsala, officers intervened in a dispute between two men. According to police reconstruction, a 45-year-old Eritrean citizen allegedly assaulted a man and rummaged through his bag in an attempt to steal personal effects. The man will face charges of robbery.
In Piazza dei Cinquecento, a routine check on three foreign nationals escalated into violent reactions against the officers: shoving, elbowing and kicking. All three were arrested on charges of resistance and assault against public officials.
Presumption of innocence
The Headquarters clarifies that the evidence described pertains to the preliminary investigation phase. For all those under investigation, the presumption of innocence applies until a definitive conviction by an irrevocable judgment.
