Cleared over clashes at Centrale station

According to Il Fatto Quotidiano, the Juvenile Court of Milan has declared charges of aggravated resistance and criminal damage extinguished for the two students arrested on 22 September 2025 during clashes at Centrale station. The ruling was issued on 8 October, following a successful probationary period, a nine-month course that enabled the young men to avoid trial.

Both youths were 17 years old at the time of arrest and attended the same secondary school. They were apprehended during disorder at the end of a pro-Palestinian demonstration for Gaza. Lawyers Mirko Mazzali and Guido Guella had requested admission to the probationary programme in January, a proposal the Court accepted.

Over the nine months, the young men performed socially useful work, participated in interviews with social workers and attended a criminal mediation course promoted by the Council and organised by criminologist Adolfo Ceretti. The summary trial was suspended during the execution of the programme, which the Court assessed positively.

Following arrest, the two had been placed under a home confinement order. On 9 October 2025 the Juvenile Court accepted the legal representatives' appeals, revoking the precautionary measure and replacing it with less restrictive conditions. The appellate judges had deemed the home confinement order "disproportionate" in relation to the risk of reoffending.

For the two young men, the obligations remained to attend school regularly, undertake psychological and psychotherapeutic treatment, and participate in meetings on lawfulness education. The so-called urban bans notified to them were also suspended by the Regional Administrative Court of Lombardy on 19 January, measures that had imposed prohibitions on loitering near bars and restaurants in various areas of Milan for two years and access to Centrale station for one year.

The decision closes proceedings only for the two students. The case relating to the 22 September clashes remains open for other suspects. For two university students aged 21 arrested on the same day, the trial for resistance and criminal damage continues before the Milan Court. During investigations coordinated by prosecutor Francesca Crupi and the specialist police unit, additional precautionary measures were ordered in subsequent months: eight measures in March, six others previously, seven house arrests in May and residence and police reporting obligations for three other individuals.
