Ranucci reports attempted break-in: journalist provided false identity
Sigfrido Ranucci has accused Moreno Pisto, editor of Mow Mag and guest on Filo Rosso, of attempting to gain access to one of his apartments using false identities. Pisto maintains he only rang an entryphone in order to intercept a third party.

Ranucci reports fraudulent attempted break-in
According to Il Fatto Quotidiano – Cronaca, Sigfrido Ranucci, former host of Report, has reported a fraudulent attempted break-in to an apartment in his possession. A journalist from an online news outlet who presents programmes on Rai3 allegedly provided false identification details and induced the cleaning woman to lie in order to gain entry. The man and a woman were then allegedly discovered positioned on the landing, posing as cleaning staff.
Ranucci recounted that the journalist asked the cleaning woman for information about the various entrances and exits of the building, which she refused. A concerned resident discovered the two individuals, described as a man with a small rucksack and a woman with a Campanian accent. The carabinieri took action on the hypothesis of breaking and entering and gathered witness statements and acquired recordings from the surveillance cameras.
The journalist in question is Moreno Pisto, editor of Mow Mag and guest on the programme Filo Rosso hosted by Antonino Monteleone on Rai3. Pisto contests Ranucci's account. According to his version, as reported by Mow Mag, he had gone to the apartment to attempt to intercept Laura Cianfoni, a neighbour of Ranucci's, as the dwelling was apparently at her disposal. "There was no breaking and entering and our editor simply rang an entryphone," the news outlet explained. Pisto maintains that, upon realising that Cianfoni was not present, he left after asking a cleaning woman for information, without entering the building.
Members of the Five Star Movement on the Rai Oversight Commission have sought clarification. "The incident is bewildering and raises questions that Rai cannot ignore," wrote the Five Star parliamentarians. They describe what occurred as "voyeurism, even stalking", and call on the company to verify whether the methods used are compatible with its principles and ethical code. "Public service broadcasting cannot apply rigorous standards on alternate days. Respect for dignity and privacy must always apply, even when the journalists involved are collaborators with Rai," they conclude.
The incident once again brings attention to Ranucci, who was already the focus of attention following an investigation into an attack he suffered that was allegedly commissioned by his friend Valter Lavitola.
