During the weekend of 27 June, individuals vandalised Hollerich Cemetery in the capital of the Grand Duchy. The plundering operation targeted 108 graves, according to figures communicated by the municipality.

The perpetrators tore out crosses and stole religious statues, notably representations of the Virgin Mary, in order to recover metallic materials. The funeral site was thus disfigured, leaving devastated headstones visible to visitors.

The municipal administration alerted law enforcement. A legal procedure was initiated to find those responsible for these acts of vandalism and theft.
