Double knife attack in Luxembourg: two suspects remanded in custody
Luxembourg's judicial police faced two incidents of blade violence on Friday in the northern part of the territory. In each case, the suspect was arrested and remanded in prison.
The first incident occurred in Ettelbruck at around 5:30 p.m. An alert reported that a passer-by had just been struck with a blade on Dr Herr Street. Officers quickly apprehended the fleeing suspect on an adjoining street. The injured person, whose condition is considered serious, was transported to a hospital. On the instructions of the public prosecutor's office, the individual was transferred to Uerschterhaff detention centre and was to be questioned by an investigating magistrate on Saturday afternoon.
Several hours earlier, a family dispute had escalated in Bilsdorf. A spouse had stabbed their partner with a knife. Fortunately, the injuries were minor and the injured person was taken to hospital. The prosecutor's office also ordered the provisional imprisonment of the suspect at Uerschterhaff penitentiary centre, with a hearing before the investigating judge scheduled for the morning of 13 June.
