Fake delivery driver in Grevenmacher steals bank card through deception
An unknown man posed as a postal worker on Machtum road in Grevenmacher and stole his victim's bank card. Money was withdrawn from the stolen card on the same day.

Quotidien reports that an unknown man presented himself on 31 August at a residential address on Machtum road in Grevenmacher, posing as a postal worker tasked with delivering a parcel.
To proceed with the delivery, the individual demanded payment of additional fees. When the victim attempted to settle in cash, the man insisted on payment exclusively by bank card. He then handed him a mobile telephone, asking him to speak with an alleged superior—a distraction that allowed him to discreetly swap the victim's bank card for another. The same day, money was withdrawn using the stolen card.
The police note that this method corresponds to a fraud against which they had already alerted the public on several previous occasions. Fake delivery workers request a small payment by card to hand over a parcel, then take advantage of the exchange to steal the bank card.
The authorities remind people of several safety rules: never hand over one's bank card to a third party, always protect one's PIN code from prying eyes, and, if in doubt, stop the transaction immediately. It is also advisable to verify the identity of the delivery company using its official contact details.
The police emphasise the importance of informing older people in particular of this fraud technique and raising their awareness of the risks it represents.
