Luxembourg's public prosecutor has revealed a vast judicial inquiry into fraudulent immigration, opened in 2023. More than 200 nationals of third countries are implicated.

Luxembourg's public prosecutor unveiled on Tuesday a judicial investigation opened in 2023, following three years of inquiry conducted in the strictest confidentiality. According to Le Quotidien, 27 searches have been carried out since the launch of the case, including several at the Immigration directorate.
The case concerns acts of corruption, trafficking in influence, money laundering, forgery and use of forged documents, fraud involving subsidies, illicit trafficking of migrants as well as breaches of the law on the free movement of persons and immigration.
More than 200 applicants from third countries reportedly benefited from undue social benefits from the Luxembourg state on the basis of forged documents. The exact amount of the damage has not yet been communicated by the authorities.
Until Tuesday, no information had emerged about this procedure. The prosecutor decided to communicate publicly on the occasion of the searches carried out at the Immigration directorate, in particular.
