In the trial related to the death of a young boy that occurred in December 2019 at the Christmas market in the capital, the court pronounced the acquittal of the Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO) as well as the City of Luxembourg. The judges held the artist and his assistant exclusively responsible.

The investigations had revealed several construction and installation defects in the device that caused the tragedy. This is why the court discharged the organising entities, considering that the fault lay solely with the two individuals directly responsible for the assembly.

This decision brings an end to proceedings that had aroused strong emotion within the population of the Grand Duchy. The tragedy had occurred during a festive event that was highly popular with families and tourists.
