In one of the largest police operations in recent history in the Grand Duchy, four suspects were arrested and multiple locations were searched.

On Tuesday, the Grand Duchy saw a comprehensive action by law enforcement authorities against alleged members of organised crime. Special forces, drug enforcement officers, IT specialists and dog handler teams took part in the simultaneous raids.
The operation commenced at 5.30 a.m. Over one hundred security personnel were involved in the operation. On the basis of arrest warrants issued at European level, four suspects were taken into custody.
In Esch/Alzette, investigators searched a residential building and an adjoining property on Rue de Luxembourg. Eye-witnesses reported that officers secured two motor vehicles during their withdrawal at around 11 a.m., including a car with German registration plates.
In Remich, criminal investigators left a shisha lounge and an adjacent restaurant in the town centre at around 12 noon. As in Esch, they apparently took away extensive evidence material in paper bags.
The operation in Ettelbrück on Rue de Warken also lasted four hours. A considerable police presence was also deployed in Strassen.
The measure was carried out at the request of the French public prosecutor's office in Lille and is connected to cross-border drug trafficking and criminal structures. According to the Luxemburger Wort, a group with roots in Serbia and Montenegro is said to be the focus.
The operation is linked to investigations surrounding Encrochat. French justice had shut down the encrypted communications platform used by the underworld in June of the previous year and confiscated millions of messages.
