A 17-and-a-half-year-old teenager died in a shooting that occurred on Saturday, 30 May, in Le François, a town in Martinique. Around 7 p.m., gunshots rang out near the petrol station in the town centre, located on Rue Homère Clément. The young man, who was about to reach his majority, did not survive his gunshot wounds. A second man, aged thirty, was also hit during this attack.

The news plunged residents of the town into mourning. Those close to him told France-Antilles Martinique that the teenager had said to his friends shortly before dying: "Well, this is where I'm dying" (a phrase in Creole meaning the same).

Police services were dispatched to the scene to conduct the investigation and locate the shooter or shooters.
