Law enforcement carried out two firearms seizures within one week in the Martinique capital, demonstrating active police presence on the ground.
The first operation took place on 23 March, following an altercation during which shots rang out. Officers then seized a Glock 17 pistol accompanied by seventeen cartridges of 9 mm calibre. The suspect was arrested, tried in immediate appearance proceedings and remanded in custody pending trial.
Six days later, on 29 March, a traffic control operation coordinated with customs officials in the Terres-Sainville neighbourhood led to another discovery. Beneath the driver's seat of a car, officers found a Taurus pistol equipped with a laser aiming device, along with a magazine containing 9 mm projectiles.
The three passengers in the vehicle were initially held by customs services, then questioned in police custody before being presented to the investigating magistrate for a decision.
