A shooting erupted on Monday afternoon at the Canal Alaric roundabout in Fort-de-France, leaving one person dead and two seriously wounded.

According to la1ere.franceinfo.fr, a shooting broke out at approximately 15:20 on Monday 16 February at the roundabout on Avenue Maurice Bishop, near the Canal Alaric district in Fort-de-France. Two individuals on a motorcycle reportedly opened fire on a third man.
The victim, struck by numerous projectiles, died from his injuries. Two other men, also hit by gunfire, were evacuated urgently to Martinique's university hospital in critical condition.
Many shots were heard by local residents. A substantial police presence was deployed to the scene to secure the area.
An investigation has been opened under the authority of the Fort-de-France Public Prosecutor's office. The modus operandi suggests a possible settling of accounts.
