Il-Koħħu says bomb would have been planted even if Caruana Galizia's family were in the car
Vince Muscat, known as Il-Koħħu, testified in the jury trial of Yorgen Fenech that those involved in the alleged killing of Daphne Caruana Galizia were prepared to plant the bomb even if family members were in the vehicle.
During his testimony on the eleventh day of the trial, Muscat recalled that he had been searching for Caruana Galizia during Notte Bianca and Independence Day in the weeks preceding her killing.
He told the court that on the night of 4 October 2017, the explosive device was moved from a garage in Naxxar to another in Santa Venera because it was closer to Valletta, where they believed Caruana Galizia might have been.
Muscat said that he, Alfred Degiorgio and George Degiorgio were searching in car parks around Valletta for the car of Daphne Caruana Galizia or that of her husband.
According to Muscat, George Degiorgio told them: "Regardless of whether the children or her husband were in the car, we still had to do it."
These accusations were made by Muscat whilst he was giving written testimony and have not yet been decided upon by the court. Yorgen Fenech pleaded not guilty to the accusations that he was the mastermind behind the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia.
