As the trial of Yorgen Fenech continued on its third day, Daphne Caruana Galizia's sister, Mandy Mallia, published a public message about the ordeal her family has endured.
Mallia noted that her mother died before seeing justice for the murder, and that her father, now in his eighties, continues to follow every development in the case attentively.
In court, the jury heard recordings in which Fenech allegedly said that Daphne "did not want to end up like Romeo Bone" — a man who survived a car bomb attack but was left with serious injuries. These recordings also showed that the bomb was powerful enough to kill, not merely to injure.
Mallia also recalled that the military-grade bomb had been boosted with a petrol can. She shared a 2003 photograph showing Daphne hugging her father, and said that it showed her sister was "a living person who took breath" before the fatal attack on 16 October 2017.
"Justice for Daphne cannot come soon enough. Malta needs to move forward," Mallia wrote.
The trial continued with the testimony of the first witness before the jury.
