A 68-year-old head of two educational centres in Gdańsk and seven other people have been detained on suspicion of selling documents confirming completion of security courses without the training being carried out.

Eight people from the Gdańsk region have been taken into police custody in connection with illegal trafficking in certificates of completion of courses for qualified physical security workers. The central figure in the entire case is a 68-year-old man running two private vocational training centres in Gdańsk.
According to the prosecutors and officers from the Anti-Corruption Division of the Gdańsk Regional Police Command, the documents were being sold to people who did not participate in the required courses at all. As a result, buyers were able to legally apply for entry on the list of qualified security guards without possessing the necessary competencies.
The operation was concluded successfully on 11 June. At the same time, officers conducted searches at eight addresses in Gdańsk, Gdynia, Malbork and Gdańsk county. Among those detained are people aged between 25 and 68 years. Cash exceeding 27,000 zlotys was discovered and secured in the director's flat.
The 68-year-old was charged with seven counts of accepting bribes and forging documents with the aim of achieving material gain. The remaining seven people were charged with offering financial benefits, obtaining false certificates and using forged documents.
The Gdańsk Regional Prosecutor's Office requested the detention of the director, but the court refused to apply this measure. In relation to each of the suspects, police supervision was ordered instead.
The proceedings are continuing. Further arrests and a detailed analysis of the documentation of both facilities under investigation are not ruled out.
