The European Public Prosecutor's Office is demanding the removal of parliamentary immunity from Civic Coalition MP Wojciech Król. According to investigators' findings, the politician allegedly accepted nearly 1.5 million złoty in financial benefits.
Information about the prosecutor's motion was provided by Onet, whose journalists reviewed the document submitted to the Sejm. The filing is brief and does not contain a detailed description of the charges.
Contrary to earlier media speculation, the prosecutor's office does not attribute to Król any manipulation of tenders for trams. A man who faces up to 20 years imprisonment in another case is appearing as a crown witness in the matter.
The motion for removal of immunity will now be considered by the Sejm.
