Polish police announced on Thursday a case involving a Slovak citizen suspected of involvement in an international drug network. He faces up to twenty years imprisonment for this offence. The man was detained in Switzerland and in November 2025 was extradited to Poland, where proceedings are underway in detention.
The information was conveyed by the Warsaw correspondent of TASR citing a police statement. Following his extradition to Poland, the prosecutor's office in Katowice filed a motion with the court for his temporary detention. The detention of the accused Michał D. is connected to an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation of the Police under supervision of the local prosecutor's office, which concerns an organised group smuggling large quantities of drugs and legalising proceeds from crime.
Investigators attribute to him involvement in smuggling 115 kilogrammes of ketamine. According to findings, he utilised a Polish company where he was the sole board member for financial operations connected with illegal activity. In September 2023, he transferred 25 thousand euros to an account, which were forwarded almost immediately to a Hungarian company as payment for cosmetics containing hidden ketamine.
Later he paid over two thousand euros for the rental of a warehouse where drugs were stored. Police officers during a search in October 2023 seized a larger quantity of the substance. During the investigation, authorities do not rule out further arrests.
