A group of ten people affiliated with the supporters' group "No Name Boys" was remanded in preventive custody by the court, with the possibility of serving the measure at home. The arrest took place on the previous Thursday, in an action by the Public Security Police at the pavilion where the futsal derby between Sporting and Benfica was being held.
The individuals in question are suspected of having committed assaults before the start of the sports match. The case is being investigated by the 11th Section of the DIAP in the capital, which is investigating offences falling within the area of sports violence.
The PSP confirmed, through a statement, that the operation resulted from an inquiry conducted by the said department of the Public Prosecutor's Office. The police authority provided no additional details about the assaults or about any possible injured parties.
The preventive custody measure was decreed by the judge as a way of ensuring the presence of the defendants in procedural acts and preventing the continuation of the criminal activity. The possibility of serving the measure under house arrest constitutes an alternative to imprisonment in jail.
