An employee responsible for transporting monetary valuables was the target of an armed robbery on Tuesday afternoon in the Chelas area of Marvila, Lisbon. Two criminals with their faces covered approached the worker and stole approximately 50,000 euros.
The incident occurred at 1:30 p.m. on Rua Vale Formoso de Cima, next to a café. The guard was preparing to make a deposit at an automated teller machine inside the establishment when he was approached from behind by one of the robbers. The second member of the group waited on a motorcycle to facilitate their escape.
Witnesses present at the location indicated that the armed criminal appeared to be young and inexperienced. The café owner attempted to pursue the thieves, who managed to escape on a motorcycle.
The PSP collected footage from the establishment's security cameras, which could prove decisive in identifying the perpetrators of the crime. There were no injuries in the incident, despite the trauma caused to the guard and customers.
