A girl just two months old was admitted to Aveiro hospital presenting with multiple fractures across her body. The child also displayed other bodily injuries, prompting her transfer to a hospital unit in Coimbra.
The Criminal Police (PJ) is conducting an investigation into the circumstances in which the baby suffered the injuries. The minor's parents are subjects of an inquiry.
The situation came to the attention of the authorities after the girl was taken to the emergency service. Given the severity and nature of the injuries detected, doctors activated the legal notification mechanisms.
The competent court has already ordered the opening of proceedings related to the case.
