A three-month-old infant lost his life in Serpa, in the Alentejo region, a victim of abuse inflicted by the partner of the paternal grandmother. The young child Elisei was crying when the man shook him with extreme violence, causing him to lose consciousness and leaving him with a bluish discolouration.
The incident occurred in the Alentejo locality, where the baby was in the care of the family member. The severity of the injuries resulted in the child's death. In light of evidence gathered, the Judicial Police in Faro proceeded with the detention of the suspect, who was subsequently placed in pre-trial detention by judicial decision.
The investigation continues under the supervision of the PJ, which is working to clarify all the circumstances surrounding the baby's death. The case reopens the debate on domestic violence directed at minors and the need for greater vigilance over risk situations in family contexts.
