Évora couple faces court over series of vehicle, home and shop thefts
A 55-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman face accusations of ten aggravated thefts committed in the Évora area over a ten-month period. The Public Prosecution Service is demanding five thousand euros in compensation for damages caused.

The judicial authorities in Évora have brought to trial a couple suspected of a wave of ten aggravated thefts perpetrated between May 2025 and February 2026. The man, aged 55, and his partner, 27, were formally charged by the local DIAP.
According to the Public Prosecution Service's order, the male suspect is believed to have committed nine of the offences alone, whilst the woman is believed to have been involved in one. The victims were owners of motor vehicles left on the city's streets, residents of private homes and owners of local businesses.
In addition to the thefts, the couple is also facing charges for other offences: causing damage to others' property, entering places closed to the public and possessing weapons prohibited by law.
The main suspect remains in pre-trial detention, as the magistrates considered that the thefts constituted his principal source of income. His accomplice is awaiting the outcome of the proceedings at liberty, undertaking to maintain a fixed address and appear whenever summoned.
The public prosecutor's office has requested that the two defendants compensate the victims with a total sum of five thousand euros for the material losses suffered.
