An elected representative of Espinho's municipal chamber, affiliated with the Chega party, was attacked on the head during a confrontation that occurred at his workplace. The incident, which originated from a disagreement over trivial reasons, took place on the previous Monday.
The assault victim, 47 years old, was helped by local firefighter personnel and transported to the emergency department of Gaia Hospital, where he received medical care.
The security forces in Espinho have already identified the presumed perpetrator of the attack, an individual approximately three decades of age. Police suspect that this person may have committed offences against the bodily integrity of another. The PSP continues to investigate the details of what occurred.
