The National Republican Guard (GNR) arrested an individual aged 38 in the municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão, in the district of Braga. The detainee is suspected of committing domestic violence crimes against his wife.
According to the Braga Territorial Command, officers were called to the scene following a report related to mistreatment in a family context. At the scene, security force personnel established that the suspected aggressor was inflicting both physical and psychological violence on the victim, who is his partner.
During the operation by the authorities, the man maintained a hostile demeanour and even made threats to the physical integrity of the woman in the presence of the officers themselves. This behaviour confirmed the picture of danger and the context of aggression to which the victim was subjected.
In light of these indications, the GNR proceeded with the arrest of the suspect in flagrante delicto. The case will now proceed to the judicial authorities, with the detainee to be brought before the first interrogation so that appropriate measures of restraint may be applied.
