Father detained for abusing minor daughter and suspected of transmitting contagious disease
The Criminal Police (PJ) in Évora detained a 54-year-old man suspected of three counts of sexual abuse against his own minor daughter, according to Correio da Manhã.
The first abuses are believed to have occurred in July of last year, during a family holiday in the Portalegre area. In September, the suspect again abused the young woman, who was then 17 years old, while driving her home to her mother's residence in Queluz.
The abuses resulted in the minor becoming pregnant. The man carries HIV, which makes him also a suspect in the crime of transmitting contagious disease. The young woman ultimately did not give birth, having suffered a spontaneous miscarriage.
DNA testing carried out on the foetus and the young woman confirmed that the detainee was the father of the child.
The suspect will be presented this Saturday to court in Portalegre for the application of precautionary measures.
