A 67-year-old man was arrested in Vinhais, in the district of Bragança, on suspicion of sexual abuse of his two daughters, aged 40 and 21. According to Correio da Manhã, the crimes occurred in the residence where the suspect and the victims lived.
According to a statement from the Judicial Police, the defendant is believed to have abused his older daughter, aged 40, who has a cognitive disability, on 5 July. The younger daughter, aged 21, is identified as the second victim: the abuse she suffered is believed to have occurred between the ages of 10 and 13, a circumstance that, according to the Judicial Police, "is undergoing further investigation".
The suspect is indicted for the crimes of sexual abuse of a person unable to resist, sexual abuse of a child and possession of a prohibited weapon. He will be brought before a preliminary judicial hearing, where the judge will decide on the protective measures to be applied.
