Man arrested in Viseu on suspicion of sexual crimes against a minor
A 46-year-old individual was arrested by the Judicial Police, accused of multiple sexual crimes against a child in the Viseu region. The arrest was confirmed by the PJ this Friday and reported by Correio da Manhã.
According to a statement from the police force, the arrest was carried out by investigators from the Central Directorate, following a detention order issued by the Public Ministry authority. The victim is a female child aged 12 years old.
The incidents in question are believed to have occurred in a context of family proximity, extending over an estimated period of twelve months. The minor ended up confiding in the abuse to a schoolmate, who subsequently informed her mother. The friend's mother then reported the facts to the competent authorities.
The suspect will now be brought before the court so that applicable coercive measures can be determined for the case.
